The Metacog 2014 conference focuses on both fundamental theory and applied psychological research and will cover topics that range from developmental perspectives on human learning to memory processes in populations with varying pathologies.

Since the first Metacognition conference held in Clermont-Ferrand in 1999, research in metacognition has seen notable development, attesting to the significance of this field. While the first conference was concerned with functional bases of human consciousness, research in metacognition has since expanded to applied and socially relevant issues, such as strategies and contexts for enhancing students’ learning, learning in psychopathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or Autistic Spectrum Disorders. In addition, metacognition now includes research into the processing of emotionally loaded materials, the question of agency in human beings, and many other topics that had not yet become part of metacognition in 1999.

Fifteen years later, it is our honor to organize the second conference on metacognition in Clermont-Ferrand, which will be held on Tuesday, the 9th and Wednesday, the 10th of September 2014. Three invited speakers of worldwide renown, Asher KORIAT, Janet METCALFE and Bennett SCHWARTZ will present their recent contributions to the field of metacognition. The focus of the 2nd Clermont-Ferrand conference focuses on both fundamental theory and applied psychological research. The conference will cover topics that range from developmental perspectives on human learning to memory processes in populations with varying pathologies.
